A Short History of the SchoolThe visionaries like Rev. Father Asim Sinha and Late Shibakali Mishra rightly felt the necessity of an English medium school in the locality in order to educate the budding children and youngsters of the area for keeping pace with the changing dimensions in different spheres of the society as aresult of opening up the Indian economy to the rest of the world. In the year 1991 an English medium school named as “Today’s School” was established at Mouza- Deuli, P.O-Belda under the leadership of Father Asim Sinha. A 99 dec.plot of land under Mouza- Chhotomatkatpur, P.O-Belda was donated to the school by Mr. Sasanka Sekhar Das and his brother Lt. Ashutosh Das with the mission of disseminating value based educations. Later the batton was handed over to Late Sibakali Mishra, the most renowned Retd. Headmaster of Belda Gangadhar Academy and a National Awardee in the control of Trustee Board. In 2001 the name of the Today’s school was changed to Belda English Medium School. At present the school runs under patronage and control of Belda Tagore Society for Mass Education and rural Development. Now, Dr. Sib Sankar Mahapatra- Siksharatna, the retired Headmaster of Negua Sundar Narayan High School (H.S) and the President of this school Managing Committee looks after the school regularly staying at school. The school got recognition from the Dept. of Education, Govt. of West Bengal Vide No. - 610-SE (EE)/10M-93/2013, D.I.S.E Code 19200909802 and finally the affiliation upto Class X by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (C.I.S.C.E), New Delhi under the code No- WB/360/2015. The school can boast of having highly qualified and experienced Teaching faculty, capable of inspiring students with their dedication and zeal. The school shall ever remember Late Shibakali Mishra (Former President), Late Biswanath Dhawa (Former Secretary), Late Sanjay Mukherjee (Founder M.C Member), Late Ashutosh Das (Land Donar) and others who are in heaven now and wishes good health of father AsimSinha (Founder), Mr. Sasanka Sekhar Das (Land Donar) and other Associates who are not in good physique now.

Location of the SchoolThe school is located at a calm, quiet & conducive environment, free from din & bustles of the town and also ideal for learning. It is just at ten minutes walking distance from Belda bus stand or Belda Railway Station. The School is just in the right side of Belda College Road Railway crossing or left side of Belda- Keshiary Bus road railway crossing. Belda is a great Commercial Town near N.H-60 (on the way from Kharagpur to Dantan or Kharagpur to Contai/Digha). The land is absolutely under the clear title and possession of the school.

Details of the School BuildingThe School has a three storied main building named “Sudhan Chandra Memorial Hall’. The primary Section is housed in a two storied building, named “Biswanath Dhawa Memorial Hall”. Besides there is also an open stage for the cultural performances of the students. The main building hostsupper primary & secondary level class rooms, Asutosh Das Memorial reading room, Niranjan Kar Memorial Library, Satyen Bose Memorial Physics Laboratory, Acharya Prafulla Chandra Roy Memorial Chemistry Laboratory, Jagadish Chandra Bose Memorial Biology Laboratory,Charles Babbage Memorial Computer Laboratory and SibaKali Mishra Memorial Examination Hall-Cum-Indoor Function Hall etc. The library has a stock of more than 4000 books, journals and periodicals. It is fully digitalized. The school is well equipped with 20 computers, printers, smart boards, C.C.T.V etc.to cater the needs of the students. There is also a Canteen for the staff & students only.

PlaygroundThe playground within the campus is enriched with swings, slides etc. The Children enjoy during off periods. Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Table Tennis and so many indoor/outdoor games facilities with karate arrangements are provided. Two duly qualified Physical Education teachers guide them properly.

Our Aims and ObjectivesThe School was established with the mission of spreading the light of education which is considered as the strongest instrument for equalization and empowerment of the people. It is our aim to produce a good human with pleasant personality, the embodiment of selfless service, devotion and fit citizen, capable to take-up the challenges of the days. Syllabus &the Medium of InstructionThe School follows the I.C.S.E syllabus.The medium of instruction is English.Bengali or Hindi are the 2nd or 3rd languages. With a view to bring efficiency in students we always try to maintain the good standard in the teaching-learning process on all the languages, science and social science subjects.

StatusAt present it runs with classes from Nursery to class X. It is completely Co-educational. The entire school area and building with classrooms are under the C.C.T.V. Camera surveillance. E-Teaching, E-Learning and E-administration system are followed strictly. All the classrooms have Smart class facilities. The school has its own Website, E-mail and generator facilities also.Sufficient Indoor and Outdoor games & sports arrangements encourage students in co-curricular activities. The school regularly arranges the social functions, cultural competitions, debates, creative writing competitions etc. for the all round development of the students.

Health CareThe School arranges for free health checkup atleast twice in a year. The School has sufficient toilets (both urinals + lavatories) and separately for office, Lady employees, Gents employees, Boys & Girls students with sufficient water, Light and cleaning arrangements. A lady staff is appointed as the girls’ care taker & a male staff is also engaged for taking care of boys students. A retired Medical officer takes proper care in health of the teaching & taught.

SafetyThe entire school area is surrounded by boundary wall. The whole area and all the rooms are under the C.C.T.V surveillance. Two stairs and sufficient Fire extinguishers have been arranged for the 100% safety of all concerned.

FacultyOur teachers are duly qualified, trained & experienced. They always try to promote the growth of our students physically, intellectually, morally & spiritually. They always inspire the students in the words of spencer Churchil. “It’s not enough to do our best, sometimes we have to do what is required”. They organize seminars, workshops etc. to update the children. They are innovative, creative and they take proper care for children’s’ discipline, co-existence, and learning honest, responsible and patriot.

Teaching- LearningA minimum Home work and maximum coverage in class room situation is followed here. Blackboard works, teaching learning with Models, Charts, Maps, Science instruments are followed here. As all the classrooms are under the smart class facilities and Library is digitalized the students get sufficient scope here for their preparation. There is a reading room for their preparation even in leisure hours.

Entrance & ExitEntrance before the assembly with proper uniform is compulsory here. The students are received in the area by the gate keeper issuing a token (Chakti) and handed over the child after schools closing for the day taking that token (Chakti). Even the parents are not allowed to hand over or receive his/her son/daughter without the specific token (Chakti) in any situation. Entrance of public even of the guardians is highly restricted in the school. No car even the school vehicle is allowed for parking within the campus as the safety of a child is given top most priority here. Attendance of a student. At least 75% attendance is obligatory here.
